MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO

A PRE-SHAMPOO (or pre-wash treatment) is a product or step applied to the hair before using traditional shampoo, with the goal of protecting, preparing, and improving the health of the hair strand.

Its main function is to act as a protective shield and an intensive treatment. Depending on the formula you use, it fulfills the following key functions

1. Protection against sulfates and dryness

Many traditional shampoos cleanse so aggressively that they strip away the natural oils that protect the scalp and ends, leaving hair dry or brittle. Pre-shampoo creates a physical barrier (usually oil- or butter-based) that prevents the shampoo's detergent from drying out or damaging the most sensitive or porous areas of the hair.

2. Deep hydration and nourishment

When applied to dry (or slightly damp) hair before washing, the nourishing ingredients have time to penetrate the hair fiber without interference from water or foam. This is ideal for providing softness, shine, and elasticity.

3. Facilitates detangling and reduces breakage

Hair is most fragile and prone to breakage when wet if there are knots. A good pre-shampoo lubricates the hair strand, facilitating prior detangling and preventing hair from breaking during washing or styling.

4. Frizz control and split end sealing

It helps seal the hair cuticle (especially in curly, dry, or chemically processed hair), resulting in hair with much less frizz and better-cared-for ends after washing.

How is it typically used?

1. Application: Apply a generous amount to dry or damp hair (focusing on mid-lengths to ends, or all over the hair if you also want to treat the scalp with specific oils).

2. Leave-in time: Leave on for 10 to 30 minutes (some specific intensive treatments can be left on a bit longer as needed).

3. Normal wash: After the time has passed, rinse lightly and proceed to wash your hair normally with your usual shampoo to remove any heavy residue.
